This course provides the necessary flight training and flight examination required by EASA Part FCL for an Instrument Rating Instructor rating.

Prerequisites

Minimum Age: 18 years
Medical Certificate: Class II
Previous training:

  • Shall hold at least the licence and ratings for which flight instruction is to be given
  • [For IRI(SEP) candidates without CRI or FI ratings] – They shall have completed at least 800 hours flight time under IFR of which at least 400 shall have been in aeroplanes
  • [For IRI(SEP) candidates with CRI or FI ratings] – They shall have completed at least 500 hours flight time under IFR of which at least 200 shall have been in aeroplanes
  • [For IRI(MEP)] – For candidates without CRI or FI ratings, they hall have completed at least 800 hours flight time under IFR of which at least 500 shall have been in aeroplanes and 30 hours as PIC on type/class
Privileges

The privileges of an IRI(A) are to issue, revalidate, and renew IR(A).

Contents
  • 10 hours flight training or 5 hours flight training for candidates holding an FI(A);
  • 25 hours theoretical class course ‘Teaching and Learning’ instruction (NOT required for candidates holding an FI of any type);
  • Progress test and in house examination (NOT required for candidates holding an FI of any type);
  • 2 hours skill test on type with HCAA assigned inspector/examiner;
